Empire Earth Gold Now Free At GOG.com

Moving on from one sale to another, GOG has officially kicked off its holiday sale. Yes, that means that tons of classic games on sale at 50% off, but it also means that Empire Earth Gold is now available for free through the service – a deal that everyone should take advantage of.

We saw a lot of people complain when GOG announced that it would be giving away Broken Sword for free when the service reached six million downloads, but there should be no complaining about free copies of Empire Earth Gold. The original Empire Earth is widely considered to be one of the best RTS games ever made, so those who have even a passing interest in RTS titles need to check it out.

All you need to do is head over to GOG, add Empire Earth Gold to your cart and checkout. Even if you don’t have a GOG account, this is perfect reason to create one, especially considering that you get four free games when you create an account anyway. You only have a couple of days to nab your free copy though, as GOG’s promotion ends at 11:59 GMT on Wednesday, December 14th.

This Empire Earth promotion is running alongside GOG’s holiday sale, which also kicked off this morning. The sale, which runs until January 2nd, has GOG’s entire catalog discounted by 50% (save for The Witcher 2, which is 40% off). Games that are normally priced at $9.99 are now $4.99, and games that are normally run $5.99 now only cost $2.99. This means that you can get Fallout and Fallout 2 for a combined total of $5.98, or you can forget the debacle that was Duke Nukem Forever and remember better times with Duke Nukem 3D for a cool $2.99.

There’s an overwhelming amount of classic games on sale during this promotion, and the only left to do now is go and pick out some new games.
