Sony & Naughty Dog Announce The Last Of Us

Uncharted Developer Naughty Dog Moves On To Post-Apocalyptic Horror With The Last Of Us

Another day, another post-apocalyptic survival game. If you aren’t sick of this genre of video games yet, then you’ll want to pay attention, because Sony and Naughty Dog have announced The Last of Us, a new post-apocalyptic horror game from the Uncharted developer.

There isn’t much we know about The Last of Us right now, aside from the fact that the trailer looks amazing. Excellent visuals, of course, are to be expected from Naughty Dog, a studio that perfected the art of the “movie game” with its work on the Uncharted series.

Just looking at the trailer, The Last of Us looks to be something of a cross between Fallout and the 2007 film I Am Legend. A press release issued by Sony earlier today gives us a vague idea of what kind of storyline we can expect in The Last of Us:

The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Abandoned cities are being reclaimed by nature and the remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

So actually, The Last of Us sounds a lot like I Am Legend, which won’t be a bad thing as long as Naughty Dog can once again deliver the great storytelling it has become famous for. There’s been no release date announced for The Last of Us yet, but you can bet we’ll have that date for you once Sony announces it. While we wait, watch the trailer for The Last of Us below, and then head down to the comments section and let us know what you think – are you ready for another post-apocalyptic adventure, or have you left this genre behind?
