Skyrim Wins Game Of The Year At Spike VGAs

Skyrim Wins Bethesda Multiple Video Game Awards, Portal 2, Skyward Sword & Arkham City Hit It Big As Well

Which games deserve the title of Game of the Year is always a hotly debated topic among gamers, making it near impossible to determine what one game is unquestionably the best of the year. While most people will certainly disagree on what games of 2011 are the best of the best, Spike gave us its take on the matter at last night’s VGA ceremony.

Unsurprising, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim took home Game of the Year, as voted on by many game journalists around the world. Given that Skyrim was revealed for the first time at last year’s ceremony, it seems rather fitting that it returned again this year to take home Game of the Year.

Skyrim didn’t have an easy fight to take home Game of the Year, however, as it had to beat out Uncharted 3, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Batman: Arkham City, and Portal 2, four of 2011′s absolute best games. Of course, there were other awards to be won besides just Game of the Year, so take a look at 2011′s full list of winners:

Fans will undoubtedly be pleased to see that Batman: Arkham City, Skyward Sword, Uncharted 3, and Portal 2 all brought home multiple rewards, and it’s nice see Bastion get some attention as well, especially with Supergiant announcing new DLC for Bastion earlier this week. For the most part, however, the awards went to the expected winners, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
