Epic Games Reveals Fortnite At Spike VGAs
We already know which title was lucky enough to be deemed Game of the Year at the Spike Video Game Awards, but anyone who makes a habit of watching the VGAs each year knows that the awards are only half of the ceremony. Publishers and developers use the VGAs to reveal some of their big upcoming games, and in the days leading up to the show, Epic Games’ Cliff Bleszinski said that Epic would be attending to announce an entirely new IP.

There was a lot of mystery leading up to Epic’s reveal. The studio has been working on the Gears of War series for a number of years, so it was difficult to try and guess where the team plans to go next. Well, as promised, Epic revealed its new game last night, and – surprise! – it has something to do with zombies.
Even though the whole zombie apocalypse theme has already been done to death, the trailer that accompanied Epic’s announcement showed us that this isn’t just another zombie game like the ones we’re used to. For instance, the zombies and monsters are actually kind of cute, and it doesn’t look like the game, dubbed Fortnite, takes itself too seriously.
Unfortunately, we’re not even sure what kind of genre Fortnite falls under at the moment, as the trailer shown doesn’t feature any gameplay footage. Judging from what little has been said about Fortnite, it seems that it will be Epic’s take on the tower defense genre, and even though there’s hundreds of free tower defense games to pick from on the internet, it’s always nice to have a fully fleshed out tower defense title to tinker with.
So, watch the Fortnite reveal trailer below, and then head down to the comments section to tell us what you think – are you willing to give Fortnite a shot, or do you think that Epic should stick to things like Gears of War? Post a comment with your thoughts!
