Google Search for Movies Now Faster on iPhone & Android Devices

Google Improves Mobile Search for Movies, Brings Interactive Results to the Table

Google announced earlier today that it has improved its mobile search engine for iPhone and Android when it comes to movie searches. The company has not exactly explained the sudden interest in making movie information easier to discover on mobile devices, but the new features can already be experimented by smartphone users.

The new feature Google decided to movie searching is an interactive results area that will offer more relevant information to users that will be searching for local movies on their iOS or Android smartphones. Google details the new interactive search feature:

Now when you search for [movies] or your favorite theater like [century san francisco] on Google.com from your phone, you’ll see interactive results for movies in a new swipeable ribbon, with the most relevant information displayed at the top of the page.

For each movie, you’ll see the movie poster, a short summary, ratings and the nearest theaters and showtimes. Designed to help you quickly browse what’s playing in theaters now, this information instantly updates as you slide through the movie posters — no need to wait for a page to load or to use the back button.

Tapping on the poster of the movie will get you more information including details about the cast and a full summary of the movie. In most cases you’ll probably be able to view the official trailer of the movie too.

And since Google will also show you showtimes for the movie you’re searching for, you’ll also be able to order tickets online following the appropriate links found on the page of the movie you select.

The new movie search features are only available in English, in the U.S., at least at this time, with international users not being to enjoy the same perks while looking for movie information on their iOS and Android handsets. Google has not specified whether a similar advanced movie search feature will be available in other markets in the future.
