BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Provides Clues On Future Included Releases
Future releases are always exciting to take a look at, because you never know just what exactly will finally crop up out of them. But looking at the BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 operating system has yielded some very exciting possibilities in terms of features on the next round of BlackBerry PlayBook.

While searching through the code on the BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 operating system, it was reportedly found that the code actually contains icons for both 4G and 4G LTE connectivity, as well as a maximum screen resolution of 1280 x 768. This by itself actually tells us quite a bit: there’s only one network out there that’s offering 4G and 4G LTE as two distinct connectivity options, and that’s AT&T.
That does assume, of course, that the icons found in the code are meant for just one device, which may not be the case. But if it is, that means the BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0, whatever it ends up called, will likely end up an AT&T exclusive. Plus, there’s also an icon devoted to SIM card notification, so there’s a possibility for some off-contract selling here to boot.

Basically, the end result here seems to be that Research in Motion is going to make a play to get the BlackBerry PlayBook back in regular rotation. They’re going to have a whole lot of competition out there, from the revived Apple lineup to the Asus Transformer Prime and a legion of others from names like Samsung and the like. Just what actually makes it into the PlayBook’s next version will remain to be seen, but I can’t help but think they’ve got a good start in the making.
But what about you guys? What do you think of the BlackBerry PlayBook’s chances? What kind of augmentations will they need to keep up with the growing horde of tablet competitors in the field? Whatever you think about the BlackBerry PlayBook’s future, we want to hear about it, so head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
