Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Now Has More Than 200 Optimized Games

Looking To Game On An Android Smartphone? You May Want To Consider The Xperia Play Which Now Has Over 200 Optimized Games Available

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play smartphone has been available for a good while now. It launched with Verizon here in the US back in late-May and since then we have seen an update come (which brought Gingerbread) as well as a ’4G’ model which came available with AT&T back in early-September.

And well, while the handset has been around for less than a year, we must say that we were slightly surprised when we saw the recent news that it was coming available with C Spire. Yup, we fell for the myth in that just because the handset was not released in the previous month that it was old.

But that being said, Sony Ericsson has done a good job of keeping things somewhat fresh in terms of gaming. And rightfully so considering the Xperia Play is often dubbed the Playstation Phone. A name it does justice to given the slide-out hardware game controls.

If you remember back, Minecraft Pocket Edition launched on Android with an initial exclusivity period on the Xperia Play. And then in October, Electronic Arts offered up four free games for Xperia Play users. Anyway, the latest news of the handset is coming from Sony Ericsson who happen to be touting the amount of available games. And honestly, it is a number that may surprise some.

According to the details posted from Sony Ericsson, the Xperia Play now has more than 200 specially optimized games available. And just for a reference point, this is up from the 60 titles that they launched with back in March. The games come from 85 developers, of which some of the bigger players include EA, Konami, Gameloft and Square Enix.

With that, Sony Ericsson also left the news with a promise that they will “be looking ahead to an even more exciting 2012; more great titles, more great devices, more great gaming.”
