Rumor: Dead Rising 3 Plot Details Leaked

With Dead Rising 2: Off The Record out the door, Capcom is apparently hard at work on Dead Rising 3, and some new details about the unannounced sequel have been leaked. Naturally, if you’re sensitive to spoilers, you won’t want to continue reading past the break, but if you don’t mind potentially having Dead Rising 3‘s plot details ruined for you ahead of time, read on.

According to Siliconera, the next Dead Rising game will take place in the fictional California town of Los Perdidos. Naturally, the zombie outbreak has reached Los Perdidos by the time Dead Rising 3 picks up, and as a result, the town has fallen under martial law – no one comes in, no one goes out.

You play as an auto mechanic named Rick who is, unfortunately, one of the people unlucky enough to be stuck in the town of Los Perdidos. It gets a lot worse than just a zombie outbreak though, as Rick learns that the government is preparing to bomb the town and plans to leave no one alive, zombie or otherwise.

One of your main goals as Rick will be to finish fixing up an old airplane and make your escape in it before the bombs drop. From the way Siliconera describes it, one of the major themes of Dead Rising 3 will be illegal immigration. Throughout your adventures in Los Perdidos, you’ll frequently have to deal with a group of “illegals,” which are infected people that aren’t registered with the United States government.

Pharmaceutical company Phenotrans will be at the center of the controversy again, with Marian Mallon supposedly returning in Dead Rising 3. A new enemy that goes by the name of General Hemlock is also said to be appearing in the Capcom’s third Dead Rising outing.
