New BlackBerry Milan Gets Leaked Way Ahead of Its Time
A few days ago we learned the unofficial names of some of RIM’s 2012 BBX-running smartphones. Then we heard that the “BBX” software name was replaced with “BlackBerry 10″ and now we get to look at the company’s first slider smartphone that will run this new mobile OS version.

Dubbed as the Milan, the handset is going to be the successor of the BlackBerry Torch and Blackberry Torch 2, the company’s first devices that featured both a regular-size touchscreen display and a full QWERTY keyboard sliding out from underneath it.

The BlackBerry Milan is the second 2012 smartphone that gets leaked following the BlackBerry London, and when looking at the images of the two devices it’s clear that there’s a certain resemblance between them, especially the bottom part which features the same sharper edges. But the top side of the Milan, which has rounded corners doesn’t look anything like the London’s top. CrackBerry notes that the top side rather follows the design of RIM’s first BlackBerry tablet, the PlayBook. It’s also more than clear that the Milan is not a London version as it was initially believed.
Also worth mentioning is the screen resolution of the Milan, which is said to offer a higher pixel density than the iPhone 4’s and iPhone 4s’ Retina Display. That appears to be a characteristic for all RIM’s 2012 smartphones that will offer bigger touchscreen displays.
The London is supposed to offer a 1.5GHz TI-OMAP dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of memory, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera and BlackBerry 10 running the show, according to a recent leak. The Milan will probably have similar specs and features, although such details have not been leaked yet. According to the same earlier leak, the Milan is expected to sport a 3.7-inch display and offer a very thin profile, even if it will feature a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Pricing details and release dates are not available for the slider, but a previous report did suggest the phone could hit AT&T and Rogers at some point next March.
