Hulu Announces Face Match, Will Initially Have It Available On Five Television Episodes

It looks like Hulu has begun rolling out another new feature. This one is called Hulu Face Match and at the time it is still in limited availability. In short, Face Match is still in the testing phase and at this stage of the game, will only be available on five television episodes.

In other words, if you want to check out Face Match, you will need to pick something out from the five available episodes. And for those who are curious, the five include Glee, The Office, Wilfred, Modern Family and Lost. But before we get ahead of ourselves telling you where to find Face Match on Hulu, lets shift back to what it actually is.

Similar to the name, Face Match, this feature will allow you to see information on the actor based on a match of their face. Basically, you hover over the face of an actor and you can get a bit more detailed information about them. Sounds perfect for those times when you are watching something and you come across that actor you love from another show, but yet you cannot remember that actors name or even that other shows name.

Some of the goodies that are included in Face Match are the actors real name, date of birth, character name and their biography. In addition, there is also a picture of the actor along with a link to their Wikipedia page and an option to share those details on Facebook and/or Twitter. And lastly, just in case you find some bad information using Face Match, Hulu also has a link to report a bad tag.

With that, according to the details provided by Hulu, here is what you will need to do in order to get started.

“To use Face Match, select the config button in the lower right corner of the video player while watching any show or clip. There will be a radio button for actor tagging in the Labs setting section if the currently played video has this feature available. You can also try the feature on the video you are watching when dialog prompts you in the lower right corner of the player. You can turn Face Match on and off whenever you like.”

And lastly, there was also the promise that Hulu will “increase the number of faces we recognize in shows and movies” as they roll it out.
