Amazon Student App Now Available For Android

Amazon Releases Amazon Student App For Android Devices, Will Give Students A "Convenient" Way To Shop & Even Trade-In Their Unused Textbooks

Amazon had mentioned that they were planning to release the Amazon Student app for Android. And well, coming a few months after the iOS version was released — Amazon Student is now available for those carrying an Android smartphone.

That being said, similar to the iOS version of the app, Amazon Student is close in features to that of the Amazon Shopping app. Needless to say, there are additional features that cater towards students such as the ability to trade-in textbooks. In addition, the Amazon Student app for Android is free to download and free to use.

The features of the app include a barcode scanner so you can check prices while out and about, the ability to do some general shopping — of which Amazon offers free two-day shipping for students. In regards to the free shipping, Amazon notes that as being available on “millions” of eligible products which range from “dorm essentials to holiday gifts.” Bottom line, given the possibility of free shipping, the Amazon Student app at least seems like a good first place to check.

Moving on though, the portion of the app aimed specifically at students deals with textbooks. More specifically, the ability to trade-in their old and/or unused textbooks. According to Amazon, those who trade-in their textbooks using this app will get the credits back in the form of an Amazon.com Gift Card.

Another feature worth noting, Amazon is touting that the app will offer “access to exclusive deals.” Otherwise, in addition to trading-in those textbooks, the app will also allow users to send in video games, electronics, DVDs and more. And for those wondering what they will get back, it is noted as being “up to 70 percent.”

And with that, those interested should be able to find the app in either the Android Market or in the Amazon Appstore.
