Ninja Gaiden 3 Releasing Early Next Year
Anyone who follows game releases knows that there’s two times during the year when the biggest games launch: autumn and March. For whatever reason, a lot of publishers and developers really, really like March. Team Ninja is one of these developers that like March, as studio head Yosuke Hayashi announced today that Ninja Gaiden 3 will be launching on Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime in March 2012.

Unfortunately, that’s all anyone got out of him today, as kept his lips sealed on an actual date. Not only that, but the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3 is also launching next year, but we can’t say exactly when, because its release is dependent on when the Wii U actually launches – a detail that Nintendo has been keeping under wraps for months now.
Ninja Gaiden 3 is a pretty major release for Team Ninja. Not only has it been nearly 4 years since Ninja Gaiden 2 was released, but this will be Team Ninja’s first Ninja Gaiden game without Tomonobu Itagaki leading the project. The folks at Team Ninja are confident that they can deliver a game that stays true to the Ninja Gaiden formula, but some fans of the series are hesitant to accept an Itagaki-free Ninja Gaiden installment with open arms.
Even though I understand the diehard fan’s reservations about Ninja Gaiden 3, I’m willing to give it a shot. I played and loved both games in the current series, and the only think I ask is that Ninja Gaiden 3 is as difficult as the first two. As long as Team Ninja can get the controller-hurling difficulty right, I think Ninja Gaiden 3 will do okay.
What do you think? Will Ninja Gaiden 3 be a worthy addition to the Ninja Gaiden series, or do you think it will fall short of the bar set by the other entries in the series? Head down to the comments section to sound off and keep it tuned here to TFTS – we’ll have that precise release date for you when Team Ninja announces it!
