HP Prepping webOS 3.0.5 Software Update For The HP TouchPad
While we are still waiting to see what HP has planned for webOS, it looks like those with a TouchPad will get at least one more software update. The latest will bring your tablet up to webOS version 3.0.5 and the update is said to be in the testing phase.

In other words, while HP is apparently readying said update, it is not yet ready for anyone and everyone to download and install. More specifically, according to the folks over at PreCentral, the update is “right around the corner, being that Release Candidate 1 of the updated OS has been released in the Early Access Program.”
That being said, this update is probably nothing that anyone will lose any sleep over waiting for. Basically, this one (similar to previous updates) will do more in terms of fixing things as opposed to adding new things. And actually, we think the previous 3.0.4 update which brought the new camera app was probably a bigger deal.
Still, lets cover the details as to what webOS 3.0.5 has — the goodies will include a new sensor API for PDK applications, support for SDL hybrid apps to utilize both cores of the processor, support for HTML5 video in all screen orientations, a bug fix for hanging WebSQL calls, double space for a period and low disk space download alerts. In addition, PreCentral also notes that this update will also bring a homebrew patch to enable support for binary data in the Bluetooth SPP service.
With that, the update is currently expected to come down to users sometime this month. Of course, that has yet to be confirmed by HP. But the bottom line here, it is slightly refreshing to see that HP is still working (albeit on a limited basis) to make webOS (on the TouchPad) a better user experience. That said, this guy has not booted into webOS on the TouchPad since the day that the first Cyanogen build was released.
