GOG Kicking Off Holiday Sale With Free Copies Of Empire Earth
Black Friday may be long gone, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any more deals to be had. Many retailers and websites will be putting their inventory on sale for holiday shoppers throughout the month, and today GOG.com announced a holiday sale of its own.

GOG’s holiday sale kicks off on Monday, December 12th with the digital distribution service offering every one free copies of Empire Earth Gold Edition. The giveaway begins at 11:00 GMT on the 12th and runs until 10:59 GMT on Wednesday, December 14th, so you’ll have two days to nab Empire Earth Gold Edition for free.
GOG will also be cutting the price on “virtually every single game” in its catalog by 50% come Monday, so if you’ve been wanting to revisit some games from the past, GOG’s holiday sale is your chance. Thankfully, the actual sale will be around longer than GOG’s Empire Earth promotion – games will be on sale at GOG until January 2nd, 2012.
Before the festivities begin, however, GOG has a little treat for those of you who have yet to check out CD Projekt’s The Witcher series. Beginning Thursday, GOG will be offering The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings at 40% off, bringing the price down to $23.99. Your purchase of The Witcher 2 will also secure you a copy of The Witcher Enhanced Edition, so if you’ve never played a Witcher game before, you can get all caught up for just over $20.
It’s also worth reminding that all games you buy through GOG are DRM free, so all you need to do is download, install, and play. All in all, this sounds like it’s going to be a great sale, and I think I may have to finally shell out for The Witcher 2. How about you? Are you going to buy anything in GOG’s holiday sale?
