iPhone 4S Battery Problems Continue Under iOS 5.1, Say Reports

Reports Emerge Suggesting That iOS 5.1 Didn't Fix The Battery Life Issues Several iPhone Users Experienced

The first beta version of iOS 5.1 was said to bring more than a few fixes along with it, but one of the biggest issues many users were looking for a fix in regard to was the battery life issue that many iPhone 4S users were experiencing. However, it seems that the early results from the iOS 5.1 beta aren’t providing the battery life fix many would have liked.

The power drain problem was suspected to be a software issue of some kind, and thus, hopes were high that the iOS 5.1 being able to solve the problem. But the current word from several developers–who were also having the battery life issues–is that the new software doesn’t seem to fix the problem at all. It’s not necessarily a cause for alarm in and of itself, of course, as this is still just the first version of the 5.1 beta release, but even with changes likely to follow it’s not an encouraging development, especially since iOS 5.0.1 was looking to fix the problems itself and didn’t seem to work out either.

And naturally, finding a particular problem in Apple’s software that may be causing the issue is likely going to be difficult, even for Apple, especially considering there are as many variables as there are. It’s not as though anyone’s using their device the exact same way every time, which is going to make things doubly difficult for Apple to spot. If there were a problem playing videos, or playing music, or placing calls, they’d have a better idea of where to look. But with something as relatively nebulous as “the battery drains with unusual speed”, it could be any of a number of possibilities. Some are even wondering if it’s new features to blame, like automatic content updates and iCloud syncing. Indeed, people are using their iPhones in wholly new, and likely not fully understood, ways with some unexpected consequences to follow.

So what do you guys think here? Anyone finding themselves on the bad end of some power drainage? Do you think it’s related to the way you use your iPhone? No matter what you think, we’re always glad to hear from you, so head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
