3DS Ambassador GBA Games Still Coming This Year

Nintendo Says That 10 Free GBA Games For 3DS Ambassadors Will Arrive This Month

Remember the 3DS ambassador program? For those of you that have forgotten, allow me to refresh your memory: back when Nintendo decided to cut the price on the 3DS just six months after launch, it left many 3DS early adopters feeling cheated out of a pretty significant amount of money. To apologize, Nintendo kicked off the 3DS ambassador program, which promised those who purchased the 3DS at the $250 price point 10 free NES games and 10 free GBA games.

3DS ambassadors got their 10 NES games months ago, but so far, we haven’t heard anything from the free GBA titles. Recent rumors have been saying that the GBA ambassador games were pushed back into 2012, but today Nintendo confirmed with ONM that they will, indeed, arrive before the end of this year:

The forthcoming 10 GBA Virtual Console titles available for registrants of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Programme, will be available before the end of December 2011. We will make further announcements in due course.

Well that’s good to hear. To be quite honest, I had completely forgotten about the 3DS ambassador program, and I’m sure many other early 3DS purchasers did too. Hey though, at least they’re still coming, and it isn’t like you’ll be getting bad games either – Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Metroid Fusion, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania are five of the games included in the bundle. We’ll have to wait until we get closer to launch before we find out what the other five are.

So there you have it, straight from the mouth of Nintendo: you’ll have your 3DS ambassador games sometime this month. What do you early adopters think? Had you forgotten about the 3DS ambassador titles, or have you been anxiously awaiting more news about them?
