Verizon Pushes Their Trade-In & HopeLine Programs For Those Looking To Safely Dispose Of Spare Devices

Verizon Encourages Users To Be Friendly To The Environment, Reminds Us They Have A Trade-In Program & HopeLine Recycle Program

The holiday shopping season is officially underway and that means lots of people will be getting new gadgets. Of which, we suspect that more than a few of those gadgets will be replacement phones and/or tablets. And well, it looks like Verizon has come forward to remind users that they have a few options available for those looking to get the old gadgets out of the house without throwing them in the trash.

That being said, Verizon is touting both their trade-in program as well as their HopeLine program. And while we suspect that many people simply want ways to safely dispose of gadgets, we think many would like to get something in return. In other words, we suspect that the trade-in program will be the more popular option here.

According to the details coming from Verizon, their trade-in program will allow you to get some cash (actually a gift card) in exchange for your old phones and tablets. And worry not because these can be from Verizon as well as other carriers. The process is simple, surf on over to the Verizon website and enter the details for the device that you have on the Trade-In Program page. Once you have everything entered you will be given a trade-in dollar amount and should you device to accept — you will then send your device in. From that point, its a matter of waiting. Verizon states that once they receive the device it will be about two weeks and you will have your gift card (which can then be used towards “the purchase of phones and accessories, or to pay Verizon Wireless bills”).

In terms of the HopeLine Program, this is all about recycling and will be good for those with gadgets that have no monetary value. This one is simple, visit the Verizon HopeLine site and prepare to have your old gadget recycled.

And lastly, for those wondering, Verizon has stated that they have “recycled and reused half a million used phones and tablets and kept 70 tons of electronic waste out of landfills” since the program began in September 2010.
