Skyrim Patch 1.2 Adds New Problems
It’s November 30th, which means that Bethesda’s promised post-Thanksgiving Skyrim patch has arrived on PC and Xbox 360. Bethesda was already kind enough to list the fixes that are coming along with patch 1.2, but some beleaguered gamers are discovering that the patch also adds some new problems to the game.

Namely, dragons will now occasionally fly backwards and resistances are broken. So, one is comical, the other is quite serious. Any good mage knows that you aren’t anything without your resistances, but unfortunately, many who installed the patch are being forced to go into battle naked.
It sucks to be sure, and the problem is compounded by the fact that it isn’t just enchanted gear that’s broken. Racial bonuses and perks will also fail to apply the appropriate resistances, so you’ll be taking full damage no matter what you do.
The problems are known to exist on Xbox 360 and PS3, with the PC version of Skyrim apparently escaping the issues. There’s no word yet on when Bethesda will patch the patch, but remember that you can refuse the 1.2 update while you wait for a fix. Just be warned that denying the patch will make it so you can’t play Skyrim online (which shouldn’t be much of a problem, considering that Skyrim is a single player game).
I’ve been playing Skyrim on PC, so it looks like I’ve dodged a bullet here. I’ve also had a relatively bug-free experience with Skyrim so far, so I guess someone at Bethesda likes me. What about you? Are you experiencing these new problems, or is your game still in good shape after update 1.2? Did update 1.2 at least fix some of the problems you were having before? Head down to the comments section to let us know, and keep it tuned here to TFTS for more updates about incoming Skyrim fixes!

I installed the day one patch, myself, and haven’t seen a problem yet. It occasionally lags but I’m used to that with detail-intensive Bethesda games.
