Galaxy Tab 10.1 vs iPad 2: Australian Judge Overturns Sales Ban, Samsung Free to Sell Android Tablet [Samsung Scores a Victory Against Apple Down Under, It’s Still Not Final Yet]
We certainly didn’t see this one coming, but it happened, Samsung managed to overturn a verdict in one of its conflicts with Apple following a series of defeats in various international courts.

An Australian court reversed the ban on Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales in the region, but it’s not all good news from Samsung yet. Apple obtained an injunction against Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales in Australia back in October and while the court has overturned the verdict, the judge still allowed time for Apple to appeal the new decision.
In other words Samsung won’t be able to start advertising and selling its flagship Android tablet in Australian stores until at least Friday. Apple has just a few days to come up with an appeal, and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear they will do so, especially since Apple is also trying to obtain another injunction in Germany against the recently unveiled Galaxy Tab 10.1N tablet version that Samsung plans to sell in the region. As you can see, Apple is fast to strike back against Samsung no matter what the South Korean device maker comes up with to avoid injunctions.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1N is a slightly modified Galaxy Tab 10.1 version created especially for the German market, a country in which Samsung has been banned from selling the Android tablet for quite a while now.
At the same time the fact still remains that Samsung managed to finally score an important victory against Apple in their worldwide patent-based legal conflict fought in over 20 lawsuits in ten countries over four continents, and hope may not be all lost when it comes to selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia in time for Christmas. When looking at the bigger picture though, it’s too early to tell who will win the war in the end even if Apple currently has quite a lead ahead of Samsung when it comes to favorable verdicts. What’s surely certain is that by blocking Samsung product sales in certain markets, even if only temporarily, Apple profited from its own iOS device sales in those regions.
Will you be purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia?
