iPhone, iPad, iPod touch & Mac Available from Best Buy This Christmas, Santa Watch Out [Best Buy Takes on Apple in TV Ad by Advertising Apple Products, Santa’s Credibility Threatened Too]

Best Buy has released a bold new TV ad that takes a few hits both at Apple and at the most important guy on Earth, especially now, Santa Claus. Apparently Best Buy knows that certain Apple products are in high demand, especially during the holidays therefore it dedicated a whole ad at Apple products.

We’ve seen our fair share of TV ads and this, while definitely funny, still undermines the authority of Apple, not to mention Santa.

The 30-second clip begins with a FaceTime conversation between a consumer and a Best Buy store employee. Within 5 seconds it’s clear the ad is about Apple products as the customers innocently says “I didn’t know you guys have all the Apple products!” while in the background you can see a bunch of Apple products including the iPad 2, iMac and MacBook Pro.

Best Buy goes even further to suggest that it really has all the Apple products you’ll want to buy this Christmas, just take a look under that tree! We have a bunch of iPad 2s, a few iPhones, a MacBook Air, a MacBook pro and an Apple TV. Even Santa is surprised when he does show up with his Christmas presents.

Best Buy then challenges Santa by the end of the commercial. It’s “Game On!” and we’ll wonder whether Best Buy can go lower than that, after all, taking hits at the big guy will get you on the naught list. On a more serious note, we’ll notice that things take a turn for the worst right at the end when the company tells customers that it has “all the hottest Apple gifts and the professionals to help!” Apple can’t be happy about this ad as Best Buy is clearly trying to steal customers away from its own stores by using Apple products while suggesting buyers should better choose a Best Buy professional instead of Apple staff to help with such products.

From a different point of view, Apple still makes money no matter who is selling its products, and maybe it should be happy with the extra free publicity for some of its hottest devices.

Are you buying gifts made by Apple this year, and if so, where are you going to order them from?
