Google Catalogs App Launched on Android Tablets
The holidays are about togetherness and commemorating special events. But they’re also a time for shoppers to whip out wads of cash and stacks of credit cards for some serious shopping. Black Friday was just the start. If you’re up for some shopping, Google makes it easier with an Android tablet launch of Google Catalogs.

The Google mobile team has announced that Google Catalogs is now available for Android tablets. Initially launched on the iPad August this year, Google Catalogs incorporates a variety of catalogs in one place, which includes the latest issues available for browsing and checkout right from the tablet computer. The app includes more than 125 catalog brands, including Nordstrom, Williams-Sonoma, Nike, Urban Outfitters and Sephora, and currently has about 400 digital issues.
The Google mobile team has said that Google Catalogs will have something for each member of the family, as it includes apparel for men and women, jewelry, gourmet items, toys, gadgets, outdoor and adventure gear, and gifts. The app is now available on Android tablets (from Honeycomb 3.1 onward) as a free download from Android Market. Meanwhile, iPad and iPad 2 users can also download the app from the App Store.
Granted, of course, that apps from other e-commerce sites can deliver the same functionality, the value-added in Google Catalogs is that it brings together a set of visually-appealing display of consumer goods from well-known brands. This might not be for bargain-hunters, but if you’re hard-pressed for time buying gifts for your family and friends this holiday season, then an iPad and Android tablet app will surely be handy.
