Rumor: Gears Of War Prequel Trilogy In The Works At People Can Fly [New Rumors Claim Bulletstorm Dev People Can Fly Working On Gears Of War Prequel Trilogy]

So, you’ve played through all three Gears of War games. You’ve been following Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad since the very beginning, and you’ve loved every minute of it. Sure, the Gears of War trilogy probably made for a compelling story arc for someone like you, but do you ever wonder what happened before the story in the original Gears of War game took place?

Well, if new rumors are true, you might be finding out relatively soon. According to the latest issue of OXM, Epic subsidiary People Can Fly might be working on a Gears of War prequel, which OXM says may turn into an entire trilogy.

Obviously, there’s no way to know if these rumors are true until Epic makes an announcement one way or another, but the rumor does seem to have some chance at truth. After all, Epic Games has said in the past that the Gears of War series will live on past the end of Delta Squad’s story. Not only that, but Epic is currently working on prequel DLC for Gears of War 3, which means that someone at the studio is interested in exploring Gears of War‘s backstory in at least some capacity.

We’re probably still a long way off from hearing anything about a potential Gears of War prequel trilogy, but frankly, I wouldn’t be all that shocked if this rumor turned out to be true. With the first Gears trilogy under their belt, it makes sense that the folks at Epic would hand off development duties on the Gears franchise to People Can Fly while they move onto new projects.

What do you think? Is there any truth to these rumors, or do you think Epic wants to give the Gears of War series a rest now that Gears of War 3 is on shelves? Head to the comments section to tell us what you think, and keep it tuned right here to TFTS – we’ll keep you posted on this particularly interesting Gears of War rumor!
