Full Motorola Droid 4 Specs & Features Revealed Ahead of Launch [Motorola’s Upcoming Slider Looks Like a RAZR, Packs a QWERTY Keyboard; Release Date Not Mentioned]

We recently learned that Verizon could launch a Motorola Droid 4 smartphone at some point in early December, and we now have the full specs and features of the device.

We have already seen the handset in leaked images, and we now have more renders that further show its resemblance with the Motorola Droid RAZR. But let’s look at the hardware of this upcoming LTE handset:

  • 4-inch touchscreen display with qHD display (960 x 540 resolution)
  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB LP DDR2 RAM
  • 16GB memory
  • microSD support for up to 32GB cards
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • A-GPS, GPS, GLONASS and eCompass
  • Bluetooth
  • USB 2.0
  • HDMI
  • DLNA
  • 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and HD video recording
  • front-facing HD webcam
  • 1,785 mAh battery
  • Android OS (most likely Gingerbread)
  • CDMA/LTE support
  • GSM/WCDMA/HSDPA support
  • microSIM card
  • 5-row LED-backlit illuminated QWERTY keyboard
  • regular capacitive buttons

What’s interesting about this device is that it appears to be a World Phone with LTE capabilities, according to the leaked specs sheet in the image below. Also worth noting is the fact that the Droid 4 appears to be a Gingerbread handset – notice the capacitive buttons on the front side – and it may take a while to see it run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Motorola has already confirmed the Droid RAZR alongside the Xoom and Droid Bionic will be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich at some point in the future, and we expect the Droid 4 to also be included in that select club. After all, if the T-Mobile G1 can run Ice Cream Sandwich, then we should see plenty of flagship Android handsets run Android 4.0 at some point in the future, at least in theory.

As for the Droid 4, the new Android slider is expected to hit stores on December 8, if a previous leak is to be believed, and we expect it to be priced anywhere between $199.99 to $299.99 on contract, considering it’s going to be part of Verizon’s 4G LTE handset. As for an international Milestone 4 version, we have no idea when such a model would be launched.
