EA Finally Giving Battlefield 3 PS3 Owners Battlefield 1943 [Electronic Arts Decides To Give Battlefield 3 PS3 Players Free Copies Of Battlefield 1943]

Well, that didn’t take very long at all: after discovering that their PS3 copy of Battlefield 3 was missing the promised bonus of Battlefield 1943, some PS3 owners took issue with EA’s backtracking. Some took things a step further than complaining, however, filing a class action lawsuit against Electronic Arts for failing to keep its promises.

Even though class action lawsuits aren’t really good for anything, I can’t blame the disgruntled players for taking action. After all, Electronic Arts said that the reason Battlefield 1943 wasn’t included along with Battlefield 3 was because the PS3 would be getting all Battlefield 3 DLC a week before other platforms – not much of a consolation.

Well, it looks like the players have won this battle, because Electronic Arts has agreed to give all owners of the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 a free download of Battlefield 1943. As per usual, there’s a set of hoops you to jump through in order to actually get your free copy of Battlefield 1943, but depending on how big of a Battlefield fan you are, those hoops could be well worth jumping through.

First, you’ll have to redeem your Battlefield 3 online pass (which, unfortunately, might be a problem for some people). After that, head to 1943redemption.battlefield.com, log in with your Origin account, and request a code for your region once Electronic Arts has started the promotion (you can find the dates below). Once you’ve done that, you’ll be given a code that you can redeem the code through the PlayStation Store and, assuming everything has gone smoothly, download your copy of Battlefield 1943.

European gamers can begin getting their codes for Battlefield 1943 on November 26th. Those in North America won’t be able to get their Battlefield 1943 codes until December 10th, while those in Asia and Japan will have to wait until December 17th.

Even though it was pretty shitty (and maybe even illegal) for Electronic Arts to go back on its promise, I’m glad to see that it’s finally delivering Battlefield 1943 to the upset gamers out there.
