BlackBerry Curve 9380 Now Available from Telus [New Touchscreen-only Curve Model Now Selling in Canada Starting at $49.99 on Contract]
Just like we told you a few days ago, Telus has confirmed it will carry the new BlackBerry Curve 9380 and the BlackBerry Bold 9790 later this year and it looks like the new, touchscreen-only, Curve model is now available in stores.

The BlackBerry Curve 9380 currently retails for $49.99 when purchased with new 3-year contracts and the price goes up to $269.99 or $319.99 with 2- or 1-year contracts, respectively. The off contract price is $369.99, which still makes it an affordable smartphone, in case you’re still interested in new BlackBerry handsets.
In fact, here’s the full specs and features sheet for this Curve model which should help you decide whether getting a BlackBerry 7 device is a good idea, or whether you should wait for future BBX handsets instead:

As you can easily see, the BlackBerry Curve 9380 is not a flagship RIM smartphone, but an affordable next-gen handset that part of company’s Curve line of entry-level smartphones.
RIM is currently struggling in the mobile space, as its BlackBerry PlayBook QNX-based tablet failed to become a recognizable best-selling device, and its BlackBerry 7 handsets have a tougher and tougher time fighting the competition, particularly this holiday season Apple’s iPhone 4S and a large number of flagship Android handsets may appeal a lot more to consumers this Christmas. Not to mention that there’s still a long way to go until the first BBX (QNX) smartphones hit stores.
Are you buying a BlackBerry handset this year or are you going to purchase something entirely different?
