Verizon Galaxy Nexus Release Date Now December 9 According to Retailer, Unlocked GSM Version Available Now

Negri Electronic Claims It Has LTE Galaxy Nexus Launch Date, Expansys Sells HSPA+ Model Right Now

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus saga continues as there’s still no U.S. launch date for Samsung’s first Ice Cream Sandwich handset. While the South Korean manufacturer reportedly confirmed the phone will only be available in American stores next month, the carrier is yet to mention release dates and pricing.

Until today we thought the Galaxy Nexus may be launched on December 8, and just earlier we told you that the Motorola Droid 4 could also hit stores on the same Thursday. But now retailer Negri Electronic  claims it will have the device in stores on December 9:

Based on the information we were given by OUR contact at #Verizon, we are set to have stock on 12/9. We will update here when we know more.

So there you have it, we got you a brand new tentative launch date to add to your collection, but we wouldn’t be surprised to dig up a totally different one for you in the coming days, so stay close for more U.S. Galaxy Nexus rumors!

Those of you tired of waiting for Verizon to launch the device – and who can blame you – can buy your Galaxy Nexus ICS smartphone right now, at least until supply lasts. That’s right, there is a U.S. retailer currently stocking the phone, Expansys, but the bad news is that we’re looking at an unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus version that retails for $749.99.

The phone will run on AT&T’s and T-Mobile’s network, including 3G capabilities, but it will not sport 4G LTE support, not that’s necessarily a bad thing, especially for wireless consumers that don’t want to switch to Verizon or that aren’t interested in signing new two-year contracts when purchasing new smartphones.

What are you going to do, order the unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus or wait for the 4G LTE version that’s hitting Verizon at a still-unspecified-date this year?
