Trine 2 Co-Op Will Be Cross Platform
Trine 2‘s release is (hopefully) just a couple of weeks away, and those of with friends might like to know that you’ll be able to play Trine 2‘s co-op mode cross platform. Well, some of you will – you see, Frozenbyte announced today that Trine 2‘s co-op will be cross platform, but not everyone is going to be able to get in on the action.

Specifically, those with an Xbox 360 and a PS3 are being left out in the cold with this. Unfortunately, cross platform co-op play will only be available on Windows and Mac, but hold on before you PC players start getting excited. Cross platform co-op play will only be available on the Steam version if the game – buy Trine 2 from any other digital distribution service and cross platform co-op isn’t going to work.
If you’d like to check out this feature a little early, then head over to Steam and download the Trine 2 beta, which has just become available for Mac. You’ll be able to play online co-op with those playing the beta on Windows-based PCs, but you’ll need to have pre-purchased Trine 2 in order to gain access to the beta.
All in all it sounds like a pretty cool feature, and I’m glad to see more developers supporting PC & Mac play. We’re entering a new era where Mac versions of PC games are becoming commonplace, and as someone who plays games regularly with Mac users, it’s always a headache when games don’t support cross platform play between Windows and Mac.
What do you think? Do you Windows users have any Mac friends you’d like to play Trine 2 with? Do you think more PC games out there need to support cross platform play between Windows and Mac? Head down to the comments section to share your thoughts and keep it here for more Trine 2 news!
