Lenovo Q180 Said To Be World’s Smallest Desktop PC [Lenovo Continues On After The Tiny Form Factor Market With A Desktop Almost Small Enough To Be A Tablet, The Q180]
Lenovo brings out another impressive little piece of hardware in the form of the Q180 desktop PC, which it’s actually pitching as the world’s smallest such desktop to date. Indeed, no one seems to be able to verify that claim, but this is certainly a very, very small piece of hardware, and if nothing else, certainly a competitor for the title.

Lenovo’s Q180 offers up a 2.13 GHz Atom processor, backed up by four gigs of RAM, and your choice of a 500 gig hard drive, or a 128 gig solid state drive as well as HDMI inputs and 7.1 channel surround sound output. Not bad for starters, but Lenovo can also offer a set of options starting out with a Radeon HD6450A graphics card with 512 megs of RAM in its own right, and leading up to a Blu-ray drive and upgraded hard drive space to 750 gig.
Admittedly, the specs aren’t exactly mindblowing, but they’re reasonably good for most common functions, starting with netsurfing and ending with watching movies, but the real kicker to this one is its size. As I said, it’s said to be the world’s smallest, and considering it measures in at 155 x 192 x 22 millimeters (that’s 6.1 x 7.56 x .87 in inches, in case you favor the imperial), that’s not a claim I’m really hot to dispute. By way of comparison, I took a copy of Halloween on DVD, and the case for that measures out at about 5.38 x 7.5 x .68 inches, so we’re talking about a desktop that measures in, comparably, to the size of a DVD case.
Some have already suggested that this would be a thoroughly impressive home theater PC and I’ll do nothing but agree with them. This is perfect to set comfortably alongside (or even underneath, but not as a support structure) most any television and hook in easily with an HDMI connector. Granted, you won’t be playing the biggest new games on it but you’ll likely not have a problem streaming Netflix on it, and with a nice big television for a monitor, you’ve got the makings of something very nice indeed.
This is set to start shipping out in early December, and will sell at $349, which makes it a great starting point for anyone looking to get in on the cable cutting extravaganza and watch most of their television through online video streaming.
So what do you guys think of this? Too small and underpowered to do any good? Or a great example of a niche product that will have a great impact? No matter what you think, we want to hear from you, so head on down to the comments section and let’s talk Lenovo!
