CES 2012: Sprint Announces Media Event for January 10, Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Coming? [Sprints Sends Out Invites to Exclusive Press Event Scheduled on First CES Day, We Begin to Speculate]
CES 2012 is right around the corner, and by that we mean it’s taking place between January 10-13 in Las Vegas, a little later than usual. And while there’s plenty of time to go until the first CES-related rumors start hitting us, we already have one confirmed event for the first day of the show.

Sprint has sent out invites for a special for a special media event scheduled for January 10, and it’s clearly marked as an “exclusive event.” But the carrier is not revealing any details about it. What could Sprint announce at CES next year? It’s not the iPhone, we know that much since the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 are already very popular among Sprint customers.
And there’s no hot upcoming Android device, smartphone or tablet, in the works, or at least no such device hit the rumor mill yet. So we’ll just have to revisit an old report, one that suggested that Sprint will launch the Galaxy Nexus, maybe as the Nexus Prime, at some point in the future. Is it possible that Sprint will want to announce such a device in early January?
Verizon was rumored to have a limited Galaxy Nexus exclusivity in the USA, which means other carriers could launch the phone later down the road, although such an exclusive deal hasn’t been confirmed yet. In fact, AT&T is also considering such a prospect, but there’s nothing official from either Sprint or AT&T at this time.
In case it’s not the Galaxy Nexus then it’s definitely something hot in order for the company to schedule a special media event right on the first day of CES. Is Sprint going to launch its own LTE network? We’ll just have to wait and see, especially since we expect more details to leak about Sprint’s CES press event by the time we actually get to cover it. In the mean time join us in our speculative effort, what do you think/want Sprint to announce in early 2012?
