New iPhone 5/6, iPad 3 & 2012 MacBook Pro Report Detail Specs, Features & Release Dates [Apple’s Upcoming Iconic iOS & OS X Devices to Pack a Few Surprises, But Some Rumors Will Never Change]

The weekend has started, or is about to start, depending on where you’re reading these lines from, but it’s never too late to take a look at some fresh rumors regarding Apple’s upcoming iOS and OS X devices. Yes, I mean the iPhone 5 (or shall we call it iPhone 6?), the iPad 3 and the 2012 MacBook Pro/Air, which are the stars of a new report today.

iPhone 5/6 – same rumors different day

While it’s technically the sixth-generation iPhone, some people still call it the iPhone 5. Personally I think the 2012 iPhone will pack LTE support and will be called the iPhone 4G – that way Apple would be safe no matter what market it would sell it in (LTE or HSPA+ support) – just like the second-generation iOS smartphone is called the iPhone 3G.

Today we hear from iLounge that the next iPhone handset will be launched in summer of 2012 and that it will sport that famous teardrop design we kept talking about ahead of the iPhone 4S event when referring to the iPhone 5. The same device is said to feature a 4-inch display, an LTE-ready battery and an aluminum casing. Moreover, the next iPhone will apparently be 8mm longer than the current version. In other words, we’re looking basically at the same repackaged rumors.

iPad 3 – a tad thicker?

The iPad 2 is a pretty thin device, but its successor may be just a tad thicker. Apple wants its iPad 3 to offer Retina Display resolution, which means it needs to use a twin LED light bar for the new display. That translates into an added 0.7mm of thickness, or a profile measuring 9.5mm compared to the iPad 2’s 8.8mm profile. The iPad 3 is expected to be launched in March, and may be unveiled at some point in January “depending on conditions.” That’s certainly pretty cryptic, but we’ll probably be able to tell you more once we get closer to launch date.

2012 MacBook Pro … or Air

The publication doesn’t offer many details about the upcoming MacBook Pro generation, but it best describes current rumors with a simple phrase:

Barring some huge and unexpected issue, 2012 will be the year when the MacBook Pro line gets its new design. Think thinner.

Yes, there are plenty of reports suggesting Apple will launch an ultrathin 15-inch MacBook Pro (or Air) next year. And yes, I’d like one too.
