CES 2012 To See 30 To 50 Ultrabooks, Say Reports
If anyone doubted the huge response generated almost inevitably by the CES show, then this report should put those doubts to rest firmly. An early preview of the CES 2012 show that took place in London suggested that a huge number of Ultrabooks will be making appearances as the big show…as many as 50.

Consumer Electronics Association research director Shawn DuBravac, who led the preview, dropped the word that a host of minor PC makers (just which brands those were was at the time unmentioned, though it was noted that it was going to be from brands other than the bigger names like HP, Lenovo, Asus and Acer, who have already committed to bring their brands out) would be bringing devices to the big show.
This is actually proving to be something of a trend, as last year’s CES was marked by the appearance of a variety of tablets following the debut of the iPad (and the subsequent debut of the iPad 2 not too long after), and most of these were Android devices looking to get in on the action. And it certainly doesn’t hurt that Intel’s put up a fat lot of cash on the Ultrabook program, which gives companies some extra room in their marketing budgets to get the word out and hopefully make some profit themselves on a line that Apple has pretty well shown to interest a whole lot of potential buyers.
Still though, 30 to 50 such devices showing up in one place is going to make for a very crowded house, and a seriously crowded news cycle. Still, you know where to turn for all the word on the likely upcoming flood of Ultrabooks heading our way in the not too distant future.
But what do you guys think about all this? Will having this many Ultrabooks in one field provide excellent choice for users? Or will most of them likely be ignored in favor of the current established frontrunners in the field? No matter what you think about the upcoming Ultrabook glut, head on down to the comments section below and tell us what you think!
