Sonos Announces The PLAY:3 Gift Pack

The folks at Sonos have come forward and announced a new gift pack offering for those in the UK and Europe. And just to clarify, this special offer is only available for the UK and Europe. Plus, it is also only available for a limited time. But that being said, the gift pack includes a PLAY:3 speaker and a BRIDGE.

The price for the gift pack is £259, which includes the PLAY:3 and the BRIDGE which are usually priced at £298 and £39 respectively. That being said, that comes as a decent discount. The PLAY:3 speaker is the newer model from Sonos, the one they announced back in July.

And just to offer a brief recap on that one, the PLAY:3 features three Class-D digital amplifiers and three drivers – one tweeter and two 3 inch mid-range as well as one passive, rear-firing bass radiator for rich sound. In addition, the PLAY:3 has a volume rocker and mute button up top as well as an Ethernet port and auxiliary input jack on the back.

In other words, the PLAY:3 speaker can be hooked directly to your home router. However here is where the BRIDGE comes into play. With this, you can attach the BRIDGE to your router and then connect the PLAY:3 wirelessly to the BRIDGE. This means that when you are using the BRIDGE and the PLAY:3 you can place the speaker anywhere in your home. Well, anywhere you have a regular power outlet. And from there, Sonos offers desktop apps to control the music as well as apps for your iOS and/or Android devices.

All said and done, this look like a rather nice way to get started with a Sonos system. And really, I mean get started because as a user myself, I will say that you will likely want to expand and add more speakers around your home once you realize how good the sound quality is.
