Two More Acer Tablets Get Unexpected Outing
We’ve just got word in about a pair of new tablets making the rounds from the folks out at Acer, and the news is looking pretty good for those of you out there who like the whole tablet paradigm. Two new tablets from Acer have leaked, the Acer Iconia Tab A700 and the Acer Iconia Tab A701, and though the two look pretty similar in nature, they’re still looking pretty sharp.

The leak revolves around a pair of recently spotted User Agent Profiles, which means this is still very early stage stuff just like the Acer Iconia Tab A510 was. But the early word about the Acer Iconia Tab A700 is actually significantly more impressive than its predecessor was. This should make some sense as the name implies a higher level of functionality, but the early spec loadout is one that should make most sit up and take notice.
See, the Acer Iconia Tab A700 is set to offer up a display resolution of 1920 x 1200, and if you’re familiar with pixel dimensions that already sounds kind of familiar to you, as it’s actually just a bit better than 1080p. It’s also set to pack in a full-on Nvidia Tegra 3, otherwise known as the Kal-El chip, and may even allow for a 16 : 10 aspect ratio. The difference between the Acer Iconia Tab A700 and its complement, the A701, seems to be that the A701 will offer up 3G connectivity at least.
And the development in general is what really has my attention: these two make the third and fourth new tablets to emerge from Acer in almost as many days. It’s kind of bizarre to see Acer, a reasonably big name, tackling the tablet form factor with quite this much vigor. Clearly they want metaphorical dogs in the equally metaphorical hunt, and they’ve put up an impressive number of them. Odd, sure, but perhaps a suggestion of where the market is going.
So what do you guys think here? Is Acer’s strenuous push into the tablet market a sign that the market in general is eschewing the laptop and desktop market? Or is it just a case of Acer ensuring that it has fingers in as many pies as possible? No matter what you think, we want to hear from you, so head on down to the comments section below and tell us what you think!
