iPhone 4S Users Report Random Service Outages

iPhone 4S Users Reportedly Finding Their Calls & Datastreams Lost For No Clear Reason, Only To Return With A New Call Or Connection Later

Add another entry onto the ever-growing list of bugs for the iPhone 4S–we’ve seen everything from battery life to yellowing screens crop up so far, and now, one more is being added on. Several iPhone 4S users so far have reported that they are, seemingly randomly, losing service to their iPhones even when previously, full signal strength was evident.

The story coming in from several iPhone 4S users thus far is that, basically, they’re setting out to make a call, take one, or check something via their web browsers, and then, for no clear reason, losing the signal. In several cases, users report going from a full five-bar signal to, abruptly, the “no service” warning. In some cases, users lose phone service but can still access the internet, and in other cases, the entire outgoing functionality of the iPhone 4S is lost.

Some users, meanwhile, have reported having this same issue, but being able to largely fix the matter themselves by way of a relatively simple options menu fix: they’ve simply gone into the Settings > Phone menu and turned the ‘SIM PIN’ feature to off. Because this has settled it for more than a few users, many now believe that this is a software issue rather than a hardware matter.

The current word on the Apple forums is that this particular problem–assuming it is a software problem–is actually fairly widespread, so Apple’s probably going to want to step in in pretty rapid fashion and address that problem before it starts making people think twice about the brand. And considering the sheer number of problems that the iPhone 4S has seen so far (many of which we’ve covered right here), it probably already has made people start thinking twice.

But what about you guys? Are you being affected by the sudden service outages? Are you starting to think that Apple maybe needs to refocus its efforts, or are you starting to look at the wide array of Android devices out there a little differently when it comes to making a phone purchase? No matter what you think, we want to hear from you, so head on down to the comments section and fill us in!
