Galaxy Tab 10.1N vs iPad 2: Samsung Tweaks Android Tablet for Germany
Samsung is not willing to accept the fact that it can’t sell its flagship Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, in Germany, following various court rulings that sided with Apple and awarded the company an injunction against Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales in the region.

It seems that the South Korean company has decided to redesign the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to comply with the recent rulings in the country and be able to sell the tablet in Germany. The new tablet version, dubbed as the Galaxy Tab 10.1N will probably be available for sale in various stores soon, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see Apple try to obtain an injunction against this model too.
As you can clearly see in the image above, the new Galaxy Tab 10.1N version is slightly different when compared to the original Galaxy Tab 10.1. Samsung has added a metal frame around the edges of the device, which is probably meant to help potential buyers tell it apart from the iPad 2. Does this mean Samsung is admitting that it copied the iPad when designing the Galaxy Tab 10.1?
Is such a change enough to help Samsung’s U.S. lawyers differentiate the device when comparing it with the iPad 2 in court? That remains to be seen. And we can’t help but wonder whether the Galaxy Tab 10.1N will be sold in other markets where Apple won, or will win, similar injunctions. In fact, it will be interesting to see whether Samsung will rely on such a design when creating next year’s Galaxy Tab tablets.
As for internal changes, we’re not yet sure whether Samsung changed anything inside the device, but we’ll probably find out more details once the Galaxy Tab 10.1N becomes available for purchase.
How do you like the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 design? Which Galaxy Tab 10.1 version do you like best so far, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the Galaxy Tab 10.1N? And yes, we’re completely ignoring the Galaxy Tab 10.1v, which is the original 10-inch tablet Samsung announced in early 2011
