Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet Offers Only 1GB Of Internal Storage For Personal Files
Well look what we have here, it appears as if the 16GB of internal storage space on the recently released Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet is not what you may have expected. It seems that the tablet does indeed have the promised 16GB of storage space, but that Barnes & Noble is controlling how much can be used for personal storage.

Simply put, from what we are seeing, the Nook Tablet has 16GB but only 1GB is available for non-Barnes & Noble downloaded files. The details of this have been confirmed by way of Sascha Sagen who had this to say;
“It’s true about the Nook Tablet. You can only use 1GB of the internal storage for files not purchased from B&N. Flabbergasted.”
Of course, we fully agree with his final word — flabbergasted. But at the same time, we must say that we are not all that surprised. After all, a similar issue came with the Nook Color back in May. If you remember back, Barnes & Noble originally began offering users 5GB of storage space on the Nook Color and then later dropped that down to 1GB.
And while this does not make it any better, at least Barnes & Noble is doing this right from the beginning instead of making the change by way of an Android 2.2 software update. Which for those keeping track, is how the limited storage issue came to light with the Nook Color.
With that, this is not the best of news but to try and add that silver lining — most users will probably never realize this is even an issue. You see, the Nook Tablet does actually have 16GB of internal storage. It is just the 1GB limit comes in with personal files — files that you want to sideload such as MP3′s or video files. And lets face it, most users will probably never do that. Still, just to make sure we are not branding ourselves as Barnes & Noble fanboys — that does not make it right and there maybe should have been a disclaimer on the internal storage limitations.
And in the end, we offer this reminder — the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet does have a microSD card slot.
