Saints Row: The Third Exclusive PS3 Content A No Show
Platform exclusive content seems to be all the rage these days. It’s easy to see why too – giving exclusive content to one version of the game makes the choice easy when a player owns both a PS3 and an Xbox 360, and gives the platform owner something to gloat about once the sales figures come back.

There’s just one small problem: situations are popping up where players don’t get the exclusive content they were promised before they bought the game. Such is the case with Saints Row: The Third. Back at E3 2011, Sony and THQ announced that those who purchase the PS3 version of Saints Row: The Third would be getting a platform exclusive game mode that centers around a certain phallic weapon found in the title (hint: it’s the giant purple dildo bat).
Come launch day, and players have found out that this promised game mode is missing from the PS3 version. The missing game mode was initially discovered by Joystiq, and since then, more and more players have claimed that their version is missing the content as well.
Of course, this isn’t the first time in recent history that games have been missing promised exclusive content at launch. Just a couple of weeks ago it was discovered that the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 was missing Battlefield 1943, a perk that Electronic Arts and Sony had advertised as being exclusive to the PS3 version.
It’s pretty understandable that people feel duped by Sony and THQ at the moment. When Joystiq contacted THQ to ask about the missing content, the only thing the publisher had to say was “No comment.” It’s entirely possible that Sony was calling the shots on whether or not this game mode made it into the game, but even if THQ had nothing to do with the decision to pull it, someone could have at least told potential buyers that the content wouldn’t be present at launch, right? Right?
