Virgin Mobile USA & Boost Mobile Launch The Deployed Military Program

Active Duty US Military Can Keep Their Boost Mobile & Virgin Mobile Wireless Accounts Intact When Deployed Overseas

It looks like both Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA have joined the ranks of being extra friendly to those in the military. The new found support comes in with the Deployed Military Program which is officially underway.

According to the details of the Deployed Military Program, those in the military who find themselves deployed to serve overseas will be able to keep their wireless account intact without having to worry about making payments. The setup seems simple enough, those being deployed simply need to make a call to their respective carrier (either Boost Mobile or Virgin Mobile) and they can have their account transferred to this status. And nicely done, both companies have reps dedicated solely to this task.

Basically, this means that the soldier will be able to keep their account and not have to worry about losing their phone number. While deployed the account will be tagged as not requiring a top-up during the deployment. In addition, any automatic payments that were setup will automatically stop. The program requires the soldier to give some “provide personal contact information as well as additional state-side contacts” so that they can be notified before the Deployed Military period comes to an end.

“We’re so grateful for the service provided by those in our military; dealing with mobile phone payments is the last thing they should be concerned with when preparing to leave. It’s our pleasure to try and make one small logistical task easier before being deployed,” said John Carney, senior vice president-Consumer Marketing for Sprint, overseeing the Prepaid Group. “We look forward to serving them again when they return home and wish them the best while they are deployed.”

Otherwise, some may remember a similar offering for postpaid Sprint customers, which is something the carrier had been offering since 2003.
