Need for Speed The Run New Trailer Features Fast-Paced Action Michael Bay Style

Transformers Director Works on EA’s New Need for Speed Trailer; Sony Reminds Us There’s PlayStation 3-only Content in the Game

Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim – in order of release dates – are just three of the games you may be currently playing, although I doubt you have time for all three of them at the same time. But the games keep on coming and if you love car racing games the Need for Speed The Run is waiting for you just around the corner.

In fact, today we have a new trailer for you, and this one has been directed by none other than legendary action movie director Michael Bay. You may have seen some of his previous work, recently, and today’s trailer is no different: fast paced action involving lots of hot cars that face each other in various scenarios. There’s plenty of action, some shooting, and the leading role is played by a human – you!

No, it’s not an episode of Transformers, it’s EA’s latest installment of the Need for Speed franchise. Why is it called The Run? Well you’ll have to compete against 200 other drivers for a grand prize of $25 million. All you have to do is drive for 3,000 miles, from San Francisco to New York, overcome obstacles and win. Sounds simple enough, right?

If you choose Sony’s PlayStation 3 as your main driving platform then you’ll be happy to hear (again, since we told you this before) that you’ll have access to some exclusive cars. In total there are seven supercars for PS3 players, and Sony detailed two of them on its official PlayStaton Blog:

Lexus LFA (image below)
Lexus enters the world of 200mph supercars with the LFA. Helping push it over the 200mph barrier is a 4.8L V10 and a carbon fiber frame to minimizing weight. The engine can go from idle to redline in 0.6 seconds, forcing Lexus engineers to use a digital display because the needle wasn’t fast enough. In Need for Speed The Run, hear what is described as “the roar of an angel” as the Lexus LFA battles it out with the fastest supercars in the world.

Porsche Carrera GT (image above)
With an engine originally designed to be an endurance racing prototype, the Porsche Carrera GT is a 200mph bullet. Production ran from 2004-2006, but the mid-engine V10 is hardly forgotten. Boasting 604hp, 15-inch brakes and an automated spoiler that adjusts above 70mph, the Carrera GT is as beautiful in its design as it is in its sound. In The Run, you’ll find yourself turning up the volume just so you can hear the incredible whine coming from the dual exhaust pipes.

Here are the remaining five:

• Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
• Hennessey Venom GT
• GUMPERT apollo s
• Lamborghini Countach QV5000
• Koenigsegg Agera R
