Acer A510 Gets Outed

The Acer A510 Tablet Gets An Unexpected Appearance, Looks To Take On The Big Names With Its Early Specs

We’ve got early word on a new Acer tablet to make an appearance, the Acer A510. While not everything about this tablet is currently known–the information only recently landed, and by User Agent Profile appearances at that–the early word on this one says it’s going to be able to play with the biggest names, and hold its own besides.

The word on the Acer A510 says that it’s set to offer up a quad core Tegra 3 processor (making this another in a growing number of devices we’ve seen so far to offer up the Kal-El chipset), backed up by a display showing at 1280 x 800 resolution and an Android operating system as well as Bluetooth 2.0. The wi-fi version is the A510, while the A511 will be mostly the same, but offer up 3G connectivity.

This will likely have its debut out at the 2012 CES show, which is only about a month and a half out. And there are still plenty of unresolved details on this one that we’re hoping to see resolved in rapid fashion, things like storage size, RAM capability, just which version of Android will be involved here (it’s a fair bet that it’ll be running Ice Cream Sandwich, however, as going much lower would probably leave it somewhat swamped by the power of a quad-core processor anyway), as well as the ever-popular question of release dates and pricing.

Still though, from the look of it, Acer wants a product that can go toe to toe with the Asus Transformer Prime, as well as the other big names like the iPad 2, and put up a credible showing. Having the Tegra 3 processor would go a long way toward doing just that, and hopefully the rest of the data, when it finally emerges, will bear that theory out.

Until then, though, there’s plenty for you guys to speculate on. So what do you think about all this? Think the Acer A510 and its 3G equivalent the Acer 511 will be able to compete with the big names? Or do you think this one’s about to bite off more than it can chew? Either way, we want to hear from you, and the comments section is just the place to do that!

I currently have the Ionia a500 and its over all the best tablet on the market and the closest to having a real PC on the go without actually having a windows tab or I pad and pay half the price. So I have no doubt it will be awesome and look forward to testing it out.
