PSA: Leave Skyrim's Giants Alone
Hordes of people have been spending the weekend adventuring in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but just in case you haven’t done too much exploring yourself, let the video posted after the break serve as a warning: do not, by any means, engage any giants you might come across while exploring. Sure, the promise of mammoth tusks and the bragging rights that come along with killing a giant might be tempting, but as two unfortunate Whiterun guards show us, the risk isn’t worth the reward.

I suppose you could get away with taking on a group of giants if you happen to be pushing level 30 and have a massive sword strapped to your back, but otherwise, you’ll probably end up like the Whiterun guards in the clip below: flying hundreds and hundreds of feet into the air after only a couple of hits from a pair of very pissed off giants.
Make no mistake, this isn’t one of Bethesda‘s famous glitches – those guards are supposed to fly that high and those giants are supposed to hit that hard. Truthfully, I’m actually surprised to see that the guards held out for more than one hit. Many playing this weekend (myself included) have been bested by the giant’s club in only one hit. Then again, with the Whiterun guards experiencing the fate that they did, I suppose those of us who experienced one hit kills at the hands of giants are the lucky ones.
I’ve been playing Skyrim all weekend long, and I simply love it. I’ll have a longer write up on the high and low points of Skyrim posted within the next day or two, but in the mean time, tell us what you think – are you loving Skyrim too, or has it left you feeling a little bit underwhelmed? Leave us a comment and tell us what you love or hate about Skyrim!

Near the tower guarded by a giant there is a rocky outcropping. Jump up to the front ledge and take aim. There are two giants in range and they cannot get you when you are on the ledge. The giants will hide after the get hit so be patient and wait until they come back.
The Developers at Bethesda should reviece a Nobel Peace Prize! If you can tear yourself away from this game for more than five minutes for a BIO Break – you have a Will of Steel!!!
Oh, and BTW – thanks for the Giant warning – wish I knew that before taking on them giants with my toothpicks.
curse my need to pay bills or i’d quit this world we call real right now to live in skyrim!
just engage them and hide in towers, they cant pass the door :)
