iPhone 4S Battery Issues Haunt Users Even After iOS 5.0.1, Apple Investigates
Apple released iOS 5.0.1 yesterday with a specific goal in mind, to fix the battery issues experienced by iOS 5 devices, especially iPhone 4S units. Unfortunately for Apple, and especially for iDevice owners, the fix is not exactly fixing the problem as excessive battery drainage still occurs.

Will this turn into a Batterygate adventure for Apple? It’s too early to tell, especially since we have no idea how widespread the battery issue is after the iOS 5.0.1 upgrade.
Apple confirmed that the battery issue has not been completely fixed by the iOS 5.0.1 update, but failed to really give us a feel of how many users are still experiencing it. Instead Apple released a statement to AllThingsD which seems to minimize the situation:
The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.
Of course that means an iOS 5.0.2 is probably just around the corner as Apple can’t afford to delay the fix of such issues any longer. The same publication details some battery complaints from iDevice users after the iOS 5.0.1 upgrade:
“Upgraded to 5.0.1 this morning,” reads one complaint. “Still draining at the exact same rate. Unplugged with a full charge 2 1/2 hours ago, and already down to 80 percent with light usage. Just lost 2 percent during a 15 minute shower. I see no difference at all.”
“I was a full charge at 5pm,” reads another. “After a few phone calls I went to bed around 2 a.m. with a 48 percent charge. Woke up at 8 a.m. with a full drain. It was in standby mode. That’s crazy!”
Another: “After installing 5.01 i charged it up fully before going to bed and after 7 hrs just sitting there lost 79 percent, and have lost further 5 percent while logging in and typing this. Going to try a full back up and restore this eve…”
We’d certainly love to hear more details about your battery experience after the iOS 5.0.1 upgrade, especially on the iPhone 4S, so hit us up in the comments section below!

I also did the wifi OTA update and it installed fine… But my battery has not been any better… It’s actually gotten worse as now it’s only 3:45 and I’ve used it since 11:30am and with only minor usage and yet it’s at 43% now… Woops nope now it’s 42%. This sucks! My iPhone 4 used to get 2 1/2 days with one charge and that was awesome but my iPhone 4s won’t even last half a day! This is sad. I truly believed the OTA update would fix it… Apple, as much as I love you, this is just not acceptable!
Oh and in the 5 mins. It took typing this, my battery went down 3% now it is at 40%.
i dont have any problem with the update at all. stand over night lost about 5 %.
tip to save battery: make sure to turn off apps before go to bed.
