Sprint Tipped To Release The Budget-Minded Express Smartphone On November 18th

Sprint Express Smartphone Expected To Arrive Soon; Will Bring Android 2.3, A Hardware QWERTY, 2.6" Display & An On-Contract Price Of Just $19.99

We still need to see the official announcement coming from Sprint, however thanks to a leaked flyer, we are getting a look at a budget-minded handset that is expected to debut for sale on November 18th.

That being said, we are still missing some key details such as the manufacturer of the phone. At the present time, it looks like the handset will arrive as the Sprint Express. Though, on second thought, maybe those looking for a nearly free phone are not as concerned with who makes it.

Either way, rumor has it that the Sprint Express will be available on the 18th and that it will come with a $19.99 price tag. Of course, we should point out that price comes after a $50 mail-in rebate and along with the standard two-year agreement.

As for specs, what we have so far includes a handset sporting a BlackBerry like design. In short, it is a candybar style handset with a display up top and a hardware QWERTY keyboard below. More specifically, the Express is sporting a 2.6 inch touchscreen display. Other details include a 600MHz processor, 1500 mAh battery, 3.2 megapixel camera and Android 2.3 Gingerbread with support for the Sprint ID packs.

Bottom line, the details are still unconfirmed however given the rumored launch date is so close — we suspect that an announcement will be coming sooner rather than later. Well, an announcement will be coming soon assuming that Sprint is actually planning to release the Express.

And while the specs may not be the highest, we are happy to see that it will be launching with Gingerbread already in place because we are not entirely convinced that a $20 handset will be upgraded at any point in the future. And while we hope to be wrong on that statement, we will leave you with this — can you imagine the Express running Ice Cream Sandwich?
