Galaxy Nexus Appears on Fox, Samsung VP Not at Liberty to Reveal Release Date & Pricing

First Android U.S. Ice Cream Sandwich Hitting Verizon Stores Soon, Hopefully, Says Exec

The first Android 4G LTE smartphone of the three devices that are hitting Verizon in November is going to be released tomorrow – the Droid RAZR – and it will be followed on November 14 by HTC’s recently announced Rezound. The third one is the Galaxy Nexus, the first Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone in the world, which Verizon already confirmed it will launch. But a release date is still not available.

In fact, it looks like Samsung is not at liberty to say when the phone will be available in the USA. The company’s Vice President of Product Planning Nick DiCarlo demoed some of the phone’s features on Fox Business and when directly asked about launch dates and pricing information he was not able to provide actual answers.

When asked whether Verizon is the only Galaxy Nexus carrier, DiCarlo dodged that bullet by reminding viewers that the Galaxy S II is already selling with AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint and now the Nexus, another Galaxy-branded handset, is coming to Verizon. But he never said that Verizon will be the exclusive Nexus carrier in the U.S.

DiCarlo also failed to mention the price of the Galaxy Nexus, which we believe it’s $299.99 on contract, and he said that “hopefully Verizon will let us know very soon.” By saying that he hinted the phone may be released in the following weeks, and the latest rumor says the handset is coming in the week of November 21, possibly in time for Black Friday. But he didn’t reveal the launch date since the Nexus “is their [Verizon’s] phone.”

In other words the Galaxy Nexus drama continues, folks, and it’s certainly annoying to see Verizon keep quiet about the handset. As you can see, it’s not up to Samsung to reveal Galaxy Nexus launch details. And despite this being a Google phone, the search giant doesn’t appear to be in charge when it comes to launching the device, although Google has not been quoted in the following clip:

Are you buying the RAZR or the Rezound instead of the Galaxy Nexus?

I have grown very tired of the phone release games that Samsung is playing. Which ever company has the the next Android phone on Sprint … Razr, Note, what ever! That will be the phone I get. This nonsense needs to end. It is only a phone!!!

Why would you buy a sub par phone, a week or two before the bread and butter gets released? To spite Samsung?

I’ve waited on the Nexus for 2 mths, 2 weeks isn’t going to kill me and I’m def not settling for the Razr.
