Three New Game Of Thrones Games In The Works
Man, Game of Thrones fans are everywhere these days. Thanks to the stellar HBO series, George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy saga, A Song of Ice and Fire, has seen a surge of interest lately, and it’s for that reason that we have a slew of Game of Thrones game adaptations heading directly at us.

It’s a good thing too, because Cyanide’s RTS adaptation, A Game of Thrones: Genesis, left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately for fans of both A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones (the first book in the Song of Ice and Fire series), the upcoming games may not be something they want at all.
The first game on tap is actually the RPG fans were hoping for the first time around. The bad news is that this RPG is being made by Cyanide, the same studio that dropped the ball with the Game of Thrones RTS. The good news is that Cyanide is getting an early look at the second season of HBO’s series, meaning that the game will run parallel to the second season, so there’s hope yet!
Unfortunately that’s where the hope looks like it ends, because the other two upcoming Game of Thrones adaptations are a free-to-play MMO set in the Song of Ice and Fire universe and a casual social network game, both being developed Bigpoint Games. I suppose there’s reason to hope that the free-to-play MMO will work out well, but with developers latching onto anything vaguely popular and making it into an MMO these days, there isn’t much.
What do think of this news, Game of Thrones fans? Are you confident that at least one of these games will be good, or do think the Song of Ice and Fire saga is doomed to video game mediocrity? Head down to the comments section to sound off, and try not to think about the fact that Bethesda almost took on a Game of Thrones project of its own.
