Steve Jobs: the Lost Interview Sneak Peeks Now Showing

1995 "Lost" Interview With Steve Jobs to Screen at Landmark Theaters Now Being Previewed

Just after a month after his passing, interesting tidbits about the life of Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs have been surfacing. Among these is a “Lost” interview, which will be screening at Landmark theaters in key cities next week.

In 1995, journalist Robert Cringley interviewed Steve Jobs in a documentary about his rise and ouster from Apple, and his involvement in creating the PC industry. Majority of the interview footage was lost, apart from the portions used in the final cut of the documentary Triumph of the Nerds. But now that copies of the lost footage have been found, the Lost Interview will be screening at Landmark theaters in key cities around the country starting November 16.

The show’s producers have released a short teaser, showcasing what viewers can expect from the interview. Cringley himself said that the interview was a poignant example of Steve Jobs at his best — passionate and even sometimes funny. Here are some quips from Jobs himself.

About Microsoft’s lack of taste in their product designs:

The only problem with Microsoft is that they just have no taste.

About forming a small team of “pirates” to develop the Mac:

We were on a mission from God to save Apple. I don’t care about being right. I just care about success.

In the interview, Jobs talked about Apple’s beginnings, and how he and Steve Wozniak — “two guys who didn’t know much” — went on to build the Apple computer company. Jobs also describes how money wasn’t really important, even as he grew in net worth from a million up to a few hundred million way before he reached 30 years of age.

During the interview, Jobs was still working at NeXT, and had dabbled in computer animation through Pixar. This was before his famous “second act” at Apple, where he was able to change the world anew with game-changing products like the iPod, iTunes, iPhone and iPad. In the end, Jobs shares that his vision of the digital future is a world of wonderful products created by artists and poets.
