Samsung Confirmed: Windows 8 Devices Will Come In Second Half Of 2012
We have already seen Samsung offer up something in terms of a Windows 8 tablet. Of course, that tablet was released only to select developers during the Windows 8 unveiling back in September as opposed to the general public. But given that, this next bit should come with a little less in terms of surprise. It seems Samsung is planning to have Windows 8 devices available for sale in the second-half of 2012.

In other words, this could mean that Samsung will be one of, if not the first company to have a Windows 8 device available for anyone willing to part with their money. Needless to say, the details are rather sparse at this time. So far, the details are coming by way of a recent Bloomberg report where they state that;
“Samsung Electronics Co. plans to start selling touch-screen computers using the latest Windows operating system from the second half of next year as it seeks to tap demand for portable, yet powerful devices.”
Further details suggest that the first Windows 8 devices from Samsung will be modified versions of the already available Series 7 tablet. Of course, for those who may have forgotten those, the Series 7 is a tablet with a separate wireless keyboard. In other words, the Series 7 is both a tablet and a laptop.
In addition, for those who already purchased a Series 7 device and wish they would have waited — rest assured in knowing that Samsung is planning to offer an update to Windows 8 once it is available. That being said, the details are rather sparse as to how exactly the update will work and what (if anything) the update will cost. Needless to say, it does sound like Samsung is going to make an effort to take care of both their new and existing customers. And that is something we like to see happening.

Now that’s a tablet to be excited about!
Another claim of a pending product release by Samsung? Based on their recent history of product delays over less complex items like cell phones (See G-S II and G-Nex), I don’t believe the 2nd half of 2012 date. Perhaps the second half of 2013 or 2014, but to be honest, to me it doesn’t matter. The debacle over the G-Nex has cost Samsung my business across all their product lines. I’m spending my hard earned money with a company that cares enough about their customers to not continually promise to deliver a product on one date (whereby people like myself pass on great deals in anticipation of the pending product release), only to be repeatedly left hung out to dry when Samsung yet again misses the date. No apologies, no discounts to make up for the inconvenience, just excuses. Thanks, but no thanks Samsung, I won’t be disappointed by your tactics anymore nor will I miss out on great deals from other companies, because I won’t be purchasing any products with your name.
