iPhone 4S & iPhone 4 Unlock Available Via Vooma Peel PG920 Dual SIM Case, Certain Conditions Have to be Met

New Device Turns iPhone 4S & iPhone 4 Into Dual SIM Clunky Smartphones; Jailbreak Required

If there’s one war Apple seems to have won with iOS hackers, that’s the iPhone unlock one. The iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S can’t be unlocked at this time, although a limited number of early iPhone 4 versions can be put through the hackers’ carrier unlock process.

Sure, certain carriers have the ability to unlock the iPhone 4, if asked nicely, but hackers still don’t have a tool that would break Apple’s lock. I suspect the same thing goes for the iPhone 4S, a device that can’t be jailbroken either at this time. And a jailbreak is needed in order to perform the unlock.

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a away for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S owners to bypass the carrier lock. What they could do is to purchase the Vooma Peel PG920, a special case that transforms the iOS handset into a dual SIM smartphone. The catch? A jailbreak is needed in order to install the app that would enable the use of the SIM slot found inside the PG920.

The iPhone 4 can be jailbroken no matter what iOS version it runs, and we’ve established that a long time ago. In fact, the iPhone 4 running iOS 5 can already be jailbroken, which means customers could simply get the Vooma Peel PG920 in order to use the locked handset with a different carrier.

The iPhone 4S can’t be jailbroken at this time, at least not publicly, but we’ve already seen proof that an early jailbreak has been obtained. In other words a user-friendly iPhone 4S jailbreak, maybe the untethered kind, may be just around the corner, in which case the handset could also be paired with a Peel PG920.

Let’s keep it mind that the Peel PG920 has not been released yet, and we have no idea when that will happen or how much the case will cost. But I will remind you that the same company produced the Peel iPod case that turned a regular iPod touch into a fully functional smartphone, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in stores soon. And by then an iPhone 4S jailbreak could also be released to the public.

So what do you say, iPhone unlockers, would you get the Vooma Peel PG920 to unlock your iPhone 4S or iPhone 4? Even if that means you’d end up with a clunky handset (yes, there’s also a battery inside that case so you’d get some extra power from the device too)? Or would you rather buy an unlocked handset from Apple to avoid such hassles?
