Facebook Bolster its Mobile Efforts

Facebook Hires New Team of Mobile Tech Developers

Facebook announced recently that it has hired a group of mobile tech developers from a San Francisco startup company called Strobe. Strobe is a company that develops technology helping developers create HTML5-based app for mobile devices and PCs. According to source, however, this is completely a talent acquisition, and no Strobe technology was acquired.

It is unclear how many of the Strobe employees joined Facebook, but the company had 15 in all, and its CEO Charles Jolley is joining Facebook’s mobile engineering team. It’s not yet known whether these new talents are working on something big for Facebook, but we can only assume the social networking company is strengthening its mobile efforts. New features for its smartphone and tablet apps, perhaps? We sure hope so!

In other Facebook news, the site added a subscribe button to comment boxes, and it’s also recently been reported that public Facebook comments can now be indexed by Google.
