AT&T Call International App Now Available For The iPhone
Following up nicely to the recently announced international calling offerings from Cricket Wireless, it looks like AT&T has rolled out something new for iPhone users. The app, which is currently available for download by way of the iOS App Store is called AT&T Call International.

The app arrives as version 1.2, comes as a free download and requires iOS 3.1 or later for use. That being said, while the app is free to download, there will be some cost associated with use. Thankfully though, while there is a cost, that cost is aimed to lower the price of international calling.
The AT&T Call International app allows for calling to “more than” 220 countries and the rates begin at $0.02 per minute for calls to Canada and at $0.04 per minute for calls to the UK, Germany, France and China. Otherwise, while there is a per minute cost associated with calls, there is nothing in terms of a recurring monthly plan. Some of the other features of the app include the following;
- No special codes or PINs needed to place a call. Dial family and friends directly from your iPhone’s contact list.
- Convenient billing directly to your credit card.
- Online account management includes prior statements and near real-time call billing.
- When traveling internationally, calls can be placed over Wi-Fi in select countries.

And with that, using the app seems to be just as simple. According to the details coming from AT&T, here is how that breaks down;

- Download the app and follow the simple instructions to set up your AT&T Call International account.
- You’re now ready to start making calls! Simply open the app and dial the international number using the AT&T Call International dial pad. Press “Call”.
- Or, open the app and select “Contacts” to choose a number from your address book.
- The app will route your call over the wireless network to the AT&T Call International gateway, using a routing number that will appear on your screen. The gateway will complete the call to your dialed number.
- International long distance charges will be billed to the credit card associated with your AT&T Call International account.
